From Comet To Calm

The album is now in production and is tentatively scheduled for a late August release. A lot of hard work went into this album and we can’t for everyone to hear it.
If that wasn’t enough, we are also competing in the Battle of Birdy’s this year. We make our First Round appearance on Friday, August 7th. Show starts at 9:00 PM, we go on at 10:30 PM. The fans will determine the winner so we hope to see everyone there.

So we decided to make Chicago Sessions available to download for FREE! Yes that is right, completely free. Head on over to our last.fm page (link up top) and choose Chicago Sessions. You will see “free download” next to each track. If you have been holding off on picking it up, you have no excuse. If you are one of the many who purchased the album, we can’t thank you enough for your support and hope you spread the word and get some people to download the album.
Don’t forget, tonight, Spin, 9:00 PM. Tomorrow, Locals Only, with Avero, probably 9:00 PM as well. Hope to see you guys there!

Absence is Nonsense

For anyone who has found themselves asking the question “where has Tyler Bender Band been??” I am happily here to tell you the answer is “nowhere,” (sorry if that was anti-climactic). Our last show was way back in early January at SPIN. But we haven’t been idle for the past month and a half…
Last year when we recorded “Chicago Sessions,” the long-term goal I wanted to set was that we’d use those recordings to help us raise money to one day go to Nashville and record a full length album.
That goal is finally coming to fruition! On March 13, we will be making the hike down to Nashville to record a 10 song album.
We’ve scheduled some studio time at Lyric Canvas Studios to work with Jason Hall as he guides us through the rigors of perfection, trying to get the best out of ourselves and our creativity.
So, the last few weeks we’ve been spending time together, trying to get our stuff together in order to make this experience as painless (mostly for Jason) as possible. We’ve been trying to perfect some new songs and tweaking some old ones that will be on the new album.
Right now the list of songs we’re working with look like this (but not in this order):
- Stir
- In Between
- Chicago
- So Cold Alone
- The Rain
- Sound of Waves
- Simple Man
- It’s Okay
- More Than A Word
- Wolf
I’m still trying to decide on a name for the album at this point.
One of the best pieces of news I’ve received in a long time is that my brilliant friend, Phil Keaggy is going to be joining me to play on a track or two. I’m thankful to him for taking time out of his schedule to play on this album.
So that’s what will be happening in the coming weeks. We hope to have blogs, photos, videos that document the experience. After that, we’ll be back playing shows (probably starting in April) and trying to reach another goal of mine for 2009 (play a significantly larger amount of shows outside of Indianapolis consistently).
As always, thank you for your support, and joining with us in our excitement for the future of what we’re doing. You’re the best.
